How to play Guess the Word
in The Last Word
The AI hides a secret word. You narrow it with yes/no questions - then type the exact word when you are sure.

The Last Word is an entertainment game. AI (Gemini) picks the secret word and answers yes/no for play; it is not real investigation advice.
What does Guess the Word feel like?
It is yes/no pressure toward one secret word - not a full case with a dossier like Story Detective.
No dossier. No final accusation. Each yes/no answer either narrows the secret word or wastes a question from your budget. When you know enough to lock a guess, you stop asking and commit to one exact word.
How does a session play?
You type closed questions in the chat field. The AI answers yes/no (or asks you to rephrase when the question does not fit).
Example round (not your game): Is it alive? - No. Does it fit in a pocket? - No. Does it have wheels? - Yes. Do you ride it? - Yes. Then you type bicycle and end the round.
Start broad - size, place, everyday use - then cut the space down. When you are ready, type the exact secret word to end the round. Optional: Ask for a hint (it affects your score) or I give up if you want out without a win.
Difficulty sets your question budget: Rookie has the most (25), then Detective (20), Inspector (15), Noir master the fewest (10).
Before you play
Know the setup facts so the first round does not surprise you.
- Network required. A round needs a connection to start - this mode is not offline.
- Difficulty, then category. Pick a difficulty chip, then a category - or open Daily word from that same screen (one shared daily puzzle).
- Limited free rounds per day. When the free pool is empty, you see No more games for today. From there: watch an ad for +1 game, or take Detective's Pass for unlimited daily Guess the Word rounds - only then can a round start. The free limit resets at midnight.
What is Guess the Word not?
It is not Story Detective and not Dark Tales - it is yes/no pressure toward one secret word.
Story Detective puts you in chat with suspects on a fixed case. You dig for who did it. Guess the Word has no case storyline and no accusation beat.
Dark Tales is interactive horror with irreversible action picks. Guess the Word is a faster word puzzle inside the same app - no narrator, no irreversible action choices.
How do I open Guess the Word?
From Home: Play → How do you play? → Single player → Game mode → Guess the Word (badge Available when the mode is on).
Pick a difficulty, then a category or Daily word, then Start round. The mode is unlocked now. When free rounds are used up, you see No more games for today - watch an ad for +1 game or take Detective's Pass; only then can a round start.
Local party on one phone can run Guess the Word too; other play modes stay on the single-player path.
